Volunteer picnic

AmeriCorps Seniors/RSVP volunteers will be recognized for their service throughout Columbiana County in 2021, serving over 3500 hours at are non-profit agencies, will a Picnic in the Park

from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Willow Grove Park. The event is hosted by Program Coordinator Marti Leake and the Columbiana County RSVP Advisory Council.

Summer HEAP

Community Action Agency’s HEAP Summer Crisis Program (SCP) begins Friday and runs through Sept. 30. Appointments for the HEAP Summer Crisis will begin July 7 and may be made by calling the automated phone service at 330-892-8880 on June 27. The Summer Crisis Program assists low-income households with an older household member (60 years or older) or households that can provide medical documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member’s health. This year, households that have a disconnect notice, have been shut off, are trying to establish new electric service, or have PIPP default are also eligible. The HEAP Summer Crisis Program allows for a one-time electric utility payment for eligible households. This assistance must result in the continuation of electric service for at least 30 days. Customers may receive an air conditioner and/or fan(s), or central air conditioning unit repairs. The customer must be at least partially responsible for their electric bill to obtain Summer Crisis assistance. Eligible households can receive up to $500 in assistance if they are a customer of a regulated electric utility or $800 if they are a customer of unregulated electric utilities, such as cooperatives and municipal utilities. EL blitz project

The Kiwanis Club of East Liverpool, along with the Walmart VAP Program and councilman Jeff Kreefer, are sponsoring a city blitz project on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The community is also welcome volunteer to help. Projects will include several aspects of sprucing up and volunteers will be divided into groups to tackle large areas. Volunteers are asked to meet at city hall at 7:45 a.m.
