Milestone for Mooroopna Kiwanis Club - Shepparton News

Sponsored by the Shepparton Club in 1978, with roughly 26 meetings a year, it has taken the group 43 years to reach this record.

From raising money for kids who can't

afford to go on Scouts Jamborees, to helping local primary schools, the Kiwanis’ objective is simple but effective - helping the children of the world.

“Our main aim is for the children, to help the children,” Mr D'amore said.

“And I think one of the best projects I'm happy with is we did help those twins they separated at Kilmore. I presented them with a $1000 cheque.

“It was a good thing, we could actually see where the money was going.”

Board member Tony Nappa said the group was looking forward to getting back into action in 2021 after having a relatively quiet 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was hoping to welcome new members to the ranks.

“We couldn't do the carols last year, which we usually organise, so we hope to do it this year,” he said.

“We're trying to get the message out to younger people who are considering joining a service club.”
