Kiwanis donation supports Peachtree City DARE program - Atlanta Journal Constitution

Peachtree City has received a donation from the local Kiwanis Club to support the police department’s drug education program.

The City Council formally

accepted the $1,248.65 donation at its Sept. 5 meeting and has adjusted its coming year’s budget accordingly. The city’s annual fund for the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program purchases books, medals, T-shirts and other materials that are distributed during officer-led classroom lectures in elementary schools to educate students about drug abuse and its prevention, as well as issues related to peer pressure, bullying, internet safety and violence. The program has been active in Peachtree City since 1993 and is administered by two officers.

DARE is one of nine youth-oriented programs supported by the Peachtree City Kiwanis.
