Community News: Kiwanis Club holds Aug. 13 meeting (8/13/19) - The Marshall Democrat-News

The Marshall Kiwanis Club held its regular meeting at noon, Aug. 13, at The Rock First Presbyterian Church on East North Street.

Gary Fetter offered the invocation, and Club President

Charles Ferguson led the Pledge of Allegiance and called the meeting to order, with 20 members and two guests in attendance.

Mel Sharon introduced his guest, grandson Zack Duncan.

Don Garst introduced his guest, Tom Fifer, who is the executive vice president of athletics at Missouri Valley College. Fifer said he is eager to begin the school year, which will be his 29th at MVC, and is excited to announce that the newly completed Fletcher Building on MVCs campus will be used extensively. The building provides more than 28,000-square feet of various rooms to accommodate training for MVCs athletes.

MVC currently offers 33 different sports, and that is a key draw for the colleges student body.

Following a brief Q&A, the meeting was adjourned with Tom Stallings winning the $11 pot.

The next Kiwanis meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 20.
