Members of three service clubs took more than 100 youth from Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside on a back-to-school shopping trip Aug. 3.

The Redlands Noon Kiwanis Club, the

Kiwanis Club of San Bernardino and the Redlands Elks Lodge paid for the young people to each get $100 worth of clothes, shoes, socks and other essentials at Kohl’s in Redlands. A service club volunteer was paired with each young person at the store.

In addition to the shopping spree, each child and teenager received a backpack filled with school supplies.

“The organizations that participate this event make sure that our members who need it most are prepared for a successful school year,” said Mark Davis, senior vice president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside, in a press release. “We’re grateful for their service to local kids.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside has served the Inland Empire since 1967 and has sites in Redlands, Loma Linda, Mentone, Corona, Moreno Valley, Rialto, Riverside, San Bernardino and Victorville. The clubs serve more than 3,000 youth daily in after-school settings and offer winter and summer camps, according to the press release.
