Batavia Kiwanis presents $3,500 in scholarships to Batavia High grads - Chicago Daily Herald

In July, members from the Kiwanis Club of Batavia presented three well-deserving Batavia High School Key Club members with $3,500 in scholarships to assist with upcoming education expenses.

Key Club International is the oldest and largest student-led service program for high school students. Key Club promotes leadership through serving others. Batavia High School's Key Club hosts over 200 members each year, making it one of the strongest youth service organizations in the area.

Kiwanis Club of Batavia fundraises annually to support the sponsored leadership programs at each of the Batavia Unit District 101 schools including Key Club at Batavia High School, Builders Club at Rotolo Middle School, and K-Kids at each of the six elementary schools in the district.

A portion of those funds go to support the Kiwanis of Batavia Foundation Scholarships.

Two of those awards are given away each year at the amount of $1,000 each. A special scholarship, the Phyllis Mary Cassidy Community Builder Award is also awarded annually in the amount of $1,500.

The Kiwanis Club of Batavia meets twice monthly from noon to 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Andre's Restaurant, 5 Webster St., and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the downtown Batavia Panera, 154 W. Wilson St. You are invited to join any of the Kiwanis Club of Batavia meetings.

Kiwanis is an international service organization dedicated to changing the world one child, one community at a time.
