Kiwanis Club seeks Citizen of the Year nominations - Plattsburgh Press Republican

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Noon Kiwanis Club is accepting nominations from the community for its annual Citizen of the Year Award. 

The deadline for submissions is Feb. 15.

The last five honorees were:

2017, Thom Loreman; 2016, Dorothy Latta; 2015, Tammy Perrotte Sears; 2014, Alice Sample; and 2013, Bob Smith.

"This award is not given to someone for doing his/her job well, but, rather, it is given for one’s volunteer work and community service," the club said in a press release.

"Many of the past honorees were unsung heroes or people who hadn’t been previously honored for their community service and volunteer activities."

Nominees should possess the following qualities and accomplishments and meet the eligibility requirements:

• A consistent record of community service over at least three years. Preference should be given to those nominees whose community service activities particularly benefit area youth.

• Serves as role model in the community. "Someone who our youth can look up to as an adult who is concerned, caring responsible, reliable, generous with his or her time, courageous, possessing a positive outlook, and dedicated to improving the quality of life in the North Country," the release said.

 

• Live or work in Clinton County.

• Cannot be members of the Kiwanis Club of Plattsburgh.
