Your Words: Kiwanis thanks community for successful tree lighting celebration - The Keene Sentinel

“Kiwanis is Kids” and the Kiwanis Club of Keene extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to all who participated in the Kiwanis Club of Keene’s 2018 Tree Lighting Celebration. This is our sixth year producing the event. A very special thank you to our corporate sponsors: Fenton Family Dealerships and Keene Monument Co., and the many local merchants who donated to the event. It takes the help of many, working together, for a successful tree lighting. The City of Keene, especially Public Works, Police and Fire Departments all assisted in keeping things running smoothly.

We are so fortunate in Keene to have talented musicians and choirs to provide entertainment. Thank you to members of the Nelson Town Band, Grand Monadnock Youth Chorus, Keene Cheshiremen and the Keene Brass Quintet for adding to the holiday spirit. Kiwanis supports programs and activities that benefit area youth. We are very proud of the Kiwanis youth groups who helped this year: Surry Village Charter School, St. Joseph’s School Builders Club and Monadnock and Keene High Key Clubs. These students are involved in community events and activities that have a positive impact by providing opportunities to learn, explore and develop leadership.

Thank you to everyone who bundled up to come out for the evening and to all the Kiwanis members who spent two weekends decorating the square and overseeing the event. Kiwanis Club of Keene invites members of the community who believe in changing the world one child, one community at a time to join us in our service efforts that benefit area youth.
