President Cindy Cone presided, Bruce started us on the Pledge, Valerie...

Stoj used her great singing voice by leading “God bless America” and Glen Fineman gave the invocation.

Division 20 meeting this morning: Two new clubs are in process of getting started in Division 20 and 19, in Gretna and Bennington. Cindy Cone has agreed and was accepted to be Lt. Governor for the next year beginning in October, 2018.

Board meeting: Tuesday, February 13 at 6:15 at the Omaha World-Herald Distribution Center 117th and Stonegate Drive. We had some discussion about scheduling board meetings every other month.

Interclub: So far 6 of our members are planning to join the Greater Omaha Kiwanis Club at the lower level (south entrance) of he German-American Club at 11:45 on Monday, February 12. The speaker will be Republican Congressman Don Bacon. You are still welcome to join us. (This could be especially interesting follwing last night’s budget votes).

Sarpy County Tax Certificate Sale: Vern Waldren is still looking for members to join him on Monday, March 5, to assist an investor in buying property tax certificates at the auction. The club will receive $100 for each participant to our welfare fund. So far Vern, his wife Cherie, Ralph Peppard and Cindy Cone have agreed. Please let Vern know if you plan to assist from 7 am to about noon.

Valentine’s Day meeting February 14. Valerie Stoj will present a speaker from the Omaha Public Library about their “speed dating” program. She also encouraged us to bring our significant others. (Quite a combination with this program while significant others may be joining us) ????

Drawing: Vern Waldren removed the 10 of Hearts, not winning about $25.

Sheriff: Substitute Sheriff Vern Waldren used Bruce Moulton’s Aussie hat to collect many happy bucks.

Salvation Army Nightwatch food truck: Dennis Cronin and I were scheduled to volunteer on Thursday, February 8. Unfortunately Dennis had problems with his hip and asked for a member to replace him. Jerry Katskee and Frank Frerich agreed to step in. I will report more verbally about this activity at the next meeting. Suspense!

Today’s Speaker: Valerie Stoj introduced Antonio Moore of MTJAVA (More Than Just A Village Academy) a Non-Profit Group he started and continues to lead showing great success with mentoring Omaha Public School students in becoming good citizens. He also shared his own life story, which brought him to the leadership he now has.
