Omaha Westside Kiwanis Club Meeting September 1, 2021

Westside Kiwanis Club Meeting

Attending:  Frank Frerich, Bruce Moulton, Dave Huelsmann, Barb St John, Joann Fuller, Glen Fineman, Bob Lodes<o:p...

We welcomed Evan Marshall as a new member of our club.

Frank attended the Division 20 Meeting this morning. There was a discussion about a grant being available to the clubs. Frank will get more information on this.

Joann said there is a possibility of sending 4 students to the overnight meeting in October. She has been working with the 100 Black Men Club. She will stipulate that the 4 students must be vaccinated for Covid. She will be following up with the club on this.

Dave & Barb, Frank & Joann enjoyed selling Husker Flags at 2 different McDonalds on August 27th. The proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House.

15 Lunch boxes were delivered to Ronald House on August 23rd.  This was in place of the meal we could not cook for them due to new covid restrictions. The boxes had a sandwich, chips, fruit, and a cookie.   They loved receiving these. Especially the fresh fruit that was in them. They do not receive a lot of fresh fruit.

Joann suggested asking our members to supply fresh fruit occasionally to be delivered to Ronald McDonald House.  Glen volunteered to pick up apples and oranges when he goes to Costco. Joann volunteered to deliver them to Ronald McDonald House.  Members can contribute money to Glen to help pay for the fruit.

More volunteers are needed for Flags on Labor Day and 9-11. Let Dennis know if you can help.

Our installation dinner is September 21st at Champion’s. You can send a check to Vern or pay Barb before the 21st.

Frank collected Happy Buck’s.

Split the Pot now has $117.00 in it.  Dave Huelsmann did not draw the Ace of Clubs.

We will not be meeting on September 15 and September 22.

Next Meeting is at Legends at noon on September 8th.
