Omaha Westside Kiwanis ZOOM Meeting April 14, 2021

Jack Jackson set up Zoom since Vernon Waldren attended his mother’s funeral. Members expressed their sympathy in Vernon’s and Cheri’s loss.

welcomed our newest member Jessica Buss. Others in attendance were JoAnn Feller, Glen Fineman and John Seigel for a total of 6 members.

Frank presented the first reading of proposed club officers for the year from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022 as proposed by the board of directors:

President: Ralph Peppard, President Elect: JoAnn Feller, Vice President: Barbara St.John, Treasurer Vernon Waldren, Secretary: Glen Fineman (who has served in this office for 30 years!) Directors: Continuing serving her 2nd year, Linda Jones. Filling the remaining year of JoAnn Feller, Tom Zuk. For a two-year term, Jessica Buss and Jerry Katskee.

Scholarships: Jack Jackson shared again that the three $1,000 scholarships were mailed to the recipients, all students at Burke High School. They are: (L to R) Paige Davison, Raeanna Spech and Nicholas Hammans.

Flag Placements: Jack Jackson will coordinate with Dennis Cronin the mailing of invoices to more than 110 residents in the Loveland area for our fundraiser, placing flags in their front yards on 6 holidays or days to remember.

Benson Key Club: JoAnn Feller shared that one of the girls (senior) collected by her own initiative about $300 for PROJECT THURST, which she told us, assist with providing water sources in less developed counties. JoAnn will coordinate forwarding the money to the proper place. Joann will have a phone meeting with the remaining Key Club members on May 7, as in-person meetings with students are not yet possible with COVID-19 still spreading.

Potential new member: It was mentioned that a former member indicated he may join the club again.

Golf Outing June 4: JoAnn Feller shared that she, Teri Layton and Dennis Cronin will meet shortly to plan more details of this Fundraiser.

Club leadership installation dinner: Jack Jackson suggested to make reservation at Champions Club soon for a weekday in September, as bookings are filling up.

Division 20 meeting: The meeting will be on May 5 at 7 am at First Watch, 72nd and Pacific, in-person and on Zoom.

Happy Bucks: Several members shared their happy events.

Next Zoom meetings will be on April 28 and May 12.
