Omaha Westside Kiwanis ZOOM Meeting October 14, 2020

The Zoom meeting was set up by Vernon Waldren. Others members attending were President Frank Frerich, David Huelsmann, Barbara St.John, Jack Jackson, Rod and Linda Jones, JoAnn

Feller and John Seigel, for a total of 9.

Frank introduced Jessica Buss, who was referred by Kiwanis International. Jessica was a Key Club member in Missouri Valley, where she grew up, and her father is a Kiwanian. She now lives in Omaha, is preparing for more college education and is currently working in retail. The members welcomed Jessica.

Frank shared about potential attendance at Division 20 meetings, which are scheduled at 7 am on the first Wednesday of every month at First Watch, 72nd and Pacific, or remotely. It appears that few clubs in the division are meeting in person.

Vern Waldren reported that 16 of our 19 members renewed their membership for the 2020/2021 year.

Jack Jackson asked whether the club should offer 3 scholarships again in April 2021 with schools not being in the normal session. It was confirmed that funds are available and a decision will be made around the first part of 2021.

Some members shared about their and their spouses health, their daily activities or lack of activities, their negative Covid19 test results and Covid19 in general and any long range travel plans.

Happy Bucks were given for successful travels, family gatherings and happiness in general. Members may just need to guess (and round up) what they owe for Happy Bucks once we get together in person again.

Next Zoom meeting Wednesday, October 28, at noon.
