Omaha Westside Kiwanis News June 26, 2019

Olive Garden Restaurant, 75th and Dodge, Wednesday, June 26, 2019

President Valerie Stoj lead the meeting, the Pledge and the Patriotic Song. Ralph...

Peppard gave the invocation.

We had a whopping 8 members attending plus luckily a visiting interclub of 5 from the West Omaha Diamond Kiwanis, who meet at the Regency Club House.

No lunch meeting next week, July 3.

District 20 meeting still on for July 3 at 7 am. First Watch, 72nd and Pacific.

Flag Placement: Loveland area, July 4, 7 am and 6 pm (or let members know if times are different).

District Convention Lincoln: August 9 and 10. ”Vision for the Future”.

July Speakers: Please let members know what programs are scheduled.

Today’s Speaker: The scheduled speaker about bird watching had to cancel. Substitute speaker Ralph Peppard shared his experience with a friendly bird waking up him, his wife and dog about 5:45 am for many mornings and a friendly verbal encounter with a member of the Audoban Society after Ralph posted a funny poster. You had to be there! Following John Seigel expressed his concerns about the growing and out of control National Debt, the amount each man, woman and child is technically burdened with, and his opinion on the state of the economy. He also gave a few examples of his experiences with struggling tenants in the lower to medium priced apartments he and his wife owned and managed for the last 14 years, which they are selling.

See you in two weeks. Happy Independence Day!
