Club Meetings

Omaha Westside Kiwanis News June 12, 2019

Olive Garden Restaurant, 75th and Dodge, Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

President Valerie Stoj lead the meeting, the Pledge of Allegiance and “God bless  America” and Frank Frerich gave the invocation.

Camp OK Guests: Linda Jones presented Marin and Ella of Westgate elementary School, who had just returned from a week at camp in Iowa, sponsored by our club. One of the girls introduced her mother. Valerie Stoj asked the young ladies several questions and they responded excitedly about their camp experience.

Flag Placements: Dennis Cronin still needs at least one more volunteer in the morning (6:15am) and evening (6pm) to place and pick up flags in the Loveland area on Flag Day, Friday, June 14. (that is tomorrow!)

Interclub with Bellevue Offutt: Rod and Linda Jones, Frank Frerich and John Seigel participated in an interclub at noon last Friday at the Nebraska Medical Center Bellevue.

Board meeting: Monday, June 17, at Vern Waldren’s office. Time was not specified.

Drawing: Bruce Moulton removed the Ace of Diamonds, increasing the possible winnings closer to $100.

Happy Bucks: Sheriff Ralph Peppard collected many of those with his usual sense of humor.

All other announcements were the same as last week.

Next week’s program: It was not specified, but I believe Teri Layton will speak or have a speaker.

Today’s program: Frank Frerich introduced Josh Murray, who gave an overview of the many areas the American Red Cross reaches out with disaster assistance, support of victims of housefires and especially blood donations. He pointed out that only about 3% of people donate blood, which is needed for many medical uses and to save lives, and encouraged members to consider donating blood and treasure and to become one of the thousands of volunteers who make all these services possible.
