Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer from Frank.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Attendance - 16 members.   
 
The 50/50 drawing was held and there was no winner.
 
Happy Bucks was collected.  
 
Frank led the business discussion:
Dale reported that the next Sacred Heart reading is April 10 with scheduled readers.
Dale also reported that the next Completely Kids is March 31 with scheduled members 
Rich, Frank, Joann, and Dale.  
Frank reported that he, along with Joann and  Dale, will attend the meeting for the 
Completely Kids 250 Year United States Anniversary celebration scheduled for early July.
Jack gave an update on the Scholarship Program:
The committee met March 25 - members include Jack, Rich, Dennis, and Glen.
Reviewed 19  applicants from schools including Burke, Concordia, and Marion.
Final selections were completed last Wednesday.
Letters to applicants were sent last Friday.
Presentation of scholarships April 13 meeting.
The Golf Event is in two months, everyone is encouraged to help with sponsors.
Barb reported that she has submitted a $250 grant request with Kiwanis NE-IA District for the
"Calming Corner" project.  More to follow.
Joann reported a Key Club is starting with the Hamburg, Iowa Club.
Deb submitted a donation of $23 she had received from collecting aluminum cans.
 
 Vince introduced the guest speakers - Sara Martier and Sue Clark of the Omaha Crime Stoppers.
 
The next Club Meeting is April 6, at Legends.  The scheduled speaker is Mandy Suing of Project
Harmony.
