Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer from Rich.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Attendance - 16 members.  
 
The 50/50 drawing was held and there was no winner.
 
Rod collected Happy Bucks.
 
Kip led a business discussion:
Dale reported on Sacred Heart.  The readings should start September 12 and 26 at 2 PM.
Jack Jackson received a thank you card from Shelby Woodard, a scholarship recipient.
The next Flag Program placement is set for next Monday, September 1 Labor Day.  Please contact
Dennis if you can help.
The Installation Dinner is September 30 at the Champions Country Club.  
Joann reported that Sarah Ross had called about the club dues.  Joann told her that she was a 
"quasi-member" and dues are not required.
Vince confirmed that the Club Social Event was not a success.  May try again next year.
                   
Rod discussed Club Membership.  The Committee is developing a list, now at 30, of area 
businesses for membership canvassing.  Suggestions are welcome.
 
The guest speaker this week was Maggie Peterson from the Omaha Public Library.
 
There is no meeting next week, September 1.  The next scheduled meeting is Monday, September 8 at Legends.
