Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer from Rich.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Attendance - 16 members.  There were two guests:
Chris Saunders, a friend of Dana's.
Dave, a cousin of Glen's.
 
The 50/50 drawing was held and there was no winner.
 
Vince collected Happy Bucks.
 
Kip led a business discussion:
Dale reported on Sacred Heart.  The first reading was last Friday, September 12.  The readers
were Dave, Barb, Rich, and Greg.  The next reading is September 26.
The final Flag Program placement for this year was last Thursday, September 11. Placed 171 flags.
The Installation Dinner is September 30 at the Champions Country Club.  Kip announced the
dinner cost $28 or $36.  He passed out a sign up sheet and will send an email later today.
Completely Kids is scheduled for September 24.  Rich and Dale signed up.
The Board Meeting may change from September 22 to the 23rd or 29th.
 
The guest speakers this week were Pam Font-Gabel and Maryam Jahish from Refugee Women's Rising.
 
The next scheduled meeting is Monday, September 22 at Legends.  The scheduled speaker is from the Kim
Foundation to speak on Suicide Prevention.

The next, and final for this year, Flag Program placement is set for this Thursday, September 11. 
Dennis also reported that he received a $50 check from another donor.

Joann reported that she attended the Hamburg Iowa Annual Popcorn Parade past Saturday.  
This parade is sponsored by a local Kiwanis Club, which is now part of the new Division 13.
Deb reported that she had money raised from aluminum cans.  She also has purchased toothpaste 
for the Sienna Francis House and The Stevens Center. 
 
The guest speaker this week was Glen Fineman who spoke on Post Covid Mental Health..
 
The next scheduled meeting is Monday, September 15 at Legends.  The scheduled speaker is from
Refugee Women Rising.
