Peterson Presents to Crawfordsville Kiwanis - Journal Review

Jean Peterson, Ph.D., NCC, LMHC, and counselor educator made a presentation to the Crawfordsville Kiwanis Club on Thursday. Peterson has focused most of her clinical work and research on children and adolescents with exceptional ability. Her presentation was about the troubling trend of children hurting themselves due to mental illnesses, depression, home and school stresses and other emotional and psychological factors. Peterson encouraged all of us, as parents, educators or people working with kids, to be available to them, to listen to them, and to learn the signs of depression and how to talk to kids about depression. Kids need Kiwanis and as Kiwanians we should be available to support, mentor and listen to kids and their needs. To hear speakers like this come visit us at noon any Thursday at the Crawfordsville District Public Library. Pictured are Peterson, left, and Kiwanis immediate past president Don Thompson.
