Kiwanis club honors women - Eureka Times Standard

The Kiwanis Club of Henderson Center will honor its 2018 Women of the Year award recipients at the fifth annual “Women in Business Luncheon” today at noon at the Sequoia Conference Center, 901 Myrtle Ave. in Eureka.

Angela Petrusha of Petrusha Law has been named Businesswoman of the Year. The Woman of Distinction is Sue Bosch of the Humboldt Land and Title. The nonprofit Woman of the Year is Nancy Flemming of the Sequoia Humane Society.

According to a Kiwanis press release, these women were selected because they demonstrate qualities of integrity, dedication, motivation and leadership in the community. In addition, they have either developed an outstanding business or lead a nonprofit that is meeting the needs within Humboldt County.

The keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Dr. Roberta Luskin-Hawk, CEO of St. Joseph Hospital.

Kiwanis is a global organization of hundreds of thousands of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize the tremendous contributions made by these women in our community and we will be honoring them at the luncheon. We see many professional women in our area making significant contributions to our local community consistent with our Kiwanis mission and hope to continue this tradition in the future,” said Club President Neal Latt.

This year, 50 percent of the net proceeds from the silent auction will go the Sequoia Humane Society.
