A play about children living out their dreams, will give kids in Knoxville an opportunity to live out ones of their own.

“Peter and Wendy” is an adaptation of the classic story of Peter Pan, which will be staged by the Knoxville Noon Kiwanis Club on Saturday, October 27th.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre of Missoula, Montana will produce the show; Curt Schwanebeck from the Kiwanis tells KNIA/KRLS News the company provides everything needed to make the show happen.

“They normally come into a community and audition for parts; we have parts for about approximately sixty children of kindergarten through twelfth grade,” Schwanebeck says. “They come for a week, practice their parts and then on the following Saturday they do two performances for the public.”

Schwanebeck says it is written so that children can pick up on the parts quickly; it’s open to any kids from kindergarten through 12th grade, but the youngest ones generally just do songs and a dance performance.

Everything will take place at the Celebrate Community Church at 1005 North Lincoln in Knoxville. They’ll hold auditions on Monday, October 22nd, rehearse nightly for the rest of the week and hold the two performances at noon and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27th.
