This week at Kiwanis - West Bend News

Paulding, OH: This week at Kiwanis, members met over lunch as usual and listened to the heartfelt stories of this week’s speaker, Marsha Yeutter from the Paulding Senior Center. Yeutter has been the director of the Senior Center in Paulding for 17 years and has worked in the senior services field for 30 years. She shared her involvement with the Alzheimer’s Association and how the disease has hit home with her and made the need for research and services for those suffering more prominent in her heart.

The Alzheimer’s Association offers a support group that meets at the Paulding Hospital every fourth Wednesday of the month at 3:00 p.m. Yeutter talked about the importance of noticing signs of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia in your loved ones. These signs could include tremors, forgetfulness, frequent frustration, and mobility issues. There is an educational series sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association coming up on March 24th at the Paulding Eagles. “This is a fantastic way to get involved with the cause and become more educated on the disease as well as spread awareness,” says Yeutter.

The Black Swamp Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a walk to help raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s research and services. Any business, organization, or group of friends can gather together to form a team that works towards fundraising for the cause. Paulding amongst other surrounding counties all gather and walk together in the Walk for Alzheimer’s. This year the walk will be held on August 25th at Sauder’s Village. “All money raised stays right here in Northwest Ohio to go towards research and services offered in our area,” says Yeutter.

The members of Kiwanis were touched by her story and appreciate Marsha for her dedication and willingness to serve others. The next Kiwanis meeting will be held next Thursday March 8th at noon, as usual.
