Kiwanis scores a hit show at Woodlands - News - Hot Springs ... - Hot Springs Village Voice

The Kiwanis Club of Great Hot Springs Village recently sponsored Cassandré and Timothy Haygood for a memorable musical evening at the Woodlands Auditorium.Known for their performances in Branson, Missouri, the Haygoods didn’t disappoint concert goers.Kicking off the evening was the talented backup musicians playing a medley of “Sing, Sing, Sing.” The performance included 25 numbers including popular mixes, movie selections including “9 to 5” and “Mary Poppins.”Cassandré Haygood lived up to her reputation with a coloratura soprano range unmatched in clarity, sophistication and gentleness. She holds her own masterfully as her program states, “The Voice of an Angel.”She shared the stage with tenor Jeremy Rabe, known for his television show on KOZL in Springfield, Missouri. The twosome gave an astonishing rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” Not to be outdone, Aunt Erma, alter ego of Cassandré brought laughs with her singing, dancing and amusing costuming.Speaking of costume changes, the writer lost count of the number of beautiful gowns worn by Haygood. The concert closed with music supporting veterans, active service personnel and patriotism for the USA.The successful concert supports Kiwanis activities helping area children. All proceeds from this program and other fundraisers are used for the club’s philanthropic community efforts. The club is involved in a variety of projects including fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.  Some projects currently active are K-kids at Jessieville and Mountain Pine Schools, Head Start, Cedar Mountain Boys and Girls Club, and the Boys and Girl Scouts, to name a few. The Kiwanis theme is “Serving the children of the world.” For more information go to http://www.hotspringsvillagekiwanis.com.Upcoming events include the Ice Cream Social and Hot Springs Concert Band scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Woodlands April 29 and Branson’s Brett Family also planned for the Woodlands Aug. 10 beginning at 7:30 p.m.
