Fort LeBoeuf Kiwanis to hold opioid panel discussion -

The March 21 event at Fort LeBoeuf High School will also include a health fair.

The Kiwanis Club of Fort LeBoeuf will hold a health fair and panel discussion March 21 at Fort LeBoeuf High School to raise awareness of the opioid epidemic.

Th event, titled "Situation Critical — The Opioid Crisis in Our Community," will begin with a health fair at 6 p.m. in the Fort LeBoeuf High School gymnasium. The health fair will feature local treatment agencies and give attendees an opportunity to tour a mockup of a teen's bedroom to search for signs of drug abuse.

The panel discussion will follow at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Speakers will include Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook, Emergycare Operations Supervisor Harry Latta, Summit Township District Judge Brian McGowan and Erie County Sheriff's Deputy Chuck Klenk and his son, Jeffrey Klenk, who is in recovery from a drug addiction.

The event was organized in response to Gov. Tom Wolf's announcement in January of a disaster declaration to combat the opioid crisis.
