Kiwanis Sunrises 4-H'er of the Month: Clay Wegman - Winona Daily News

Clay Wegman was recognized as the Kiwanis Sunrises of Winona 4-H Youth Representative of the month for January. Clay is the son of David and Paula Wegman, is a member of the Saratoga Challengers 4-H Club and a senior at Lewiston-Altura High School.

Currently serving as president for his club, Clay has also served as its vice president and secretary. Clay has exhibited 4-H projects at the county and state fairs, and in 2017, he and his team participated in the Minnesota Meats Cooking competition at the Minnesota State Fair. He has also made safety kits for the fair.

Through exhibiting livestock, Clay has grown an appreciation for patience, calmness and kindness, claiming this has made his personality more gentle.

"4-H has given me the opportunity to make friends, work with animals and become a leader in my community," Clay said. "Now, because of 4-H I can take my new skills into the real world."

The Winona Sunrisers Kiwanis Club recognizes one Winona County 4-H members during its breakfast meeting the fourth Wednesday of the month. The club meets weekly at 7 a.m. Wednesdays at Winona's Family Restaurant.
