Tax law outlined at Kiwanis meeting - Daily Register

Deb Detmers-Fansler from Congressman John Shimkus's office, the guest speaker at Harrisburg Kiwanis Club's noon luncheon meeting Dec. 20 at Ponderosa, reviewed elements of the new tax law, which became effective Jan. 1.

Since Detmers-Fansler made her presentation, the new tax reform bill was passed and signed into law by President Donald Trump.

She said one of the most asked questions has been whether contributions to charities and medical expenses will still be allowed. Although most people will probably use the standard form, she said anyone may complete the long form and itemize these deductions.

Detmers-Fansler also indicated that Congress believes the new tax bill will add jobs, which, in turn, should help stimulate the economy even further.
