— The 23rd annual Chester Kiwanis 5K was held on May 27 under ideal weather running conditions.

Three hundred-plus participants enjoyed a run/walk through the historic streets of Chester via Main street, which was lined with American flags representing those individuals who have served in the armed services.

The overall runner winners were April Ackermann with a time of 19:10 and Rudia Wareham with a time of 18:04. The overall walker winners were Paula Ulmer-Schultzf with a time of 39:11 and Barry Lewis with a time of 37 minutes. The complete list of the results can be found at http://my3.raceresult.com/75339/#.

The attendees, ranging from 5 years old to 85, enjoyed a post race breakfast prepared by the First Presbyterian Church. A portion of the proceeds from the race is donated to the Community Food Pantry located at the Church.

Many runners donate their newish T-shirts, which will be given to Braeside a Summer Camp for children in Middletown.

The Kiwanis Club of Chester would like to thank the runners and sponsors for supporting this important project which enables the club to provide assistance where it is needed in the community.
