President Valerie Stoj presided and lead “God bless America”, Bob Lodes...

started the Pledge of Allegiance and Glen Fineman gave the invocation.

Flag Placement Flag Day, June 14: Dennis Cronin reported that about 80% of the home owners where flags are placed have paid their donations and that Frank Frerich is following up on the remainders. Members placing the flags at 7 am were Bruce Moulton, Rod Jones, Frank Frerich, Dennis and Laurrie Cronin. Members picking them up at 6 pm were Valerie Stoj, Frank Frerich, Vern and Cheri Waldren and Dennis and Laurrie Cronin. Next Placement will be Wednesday, July 4.

Golf Outing June 15: Teri Layton had sent an e-mail about the success of the event with more details to follow.

Officer Training: Valerie Stoj and Frank Frerich attended the training at the Council Bluffs Library. Valerie commented on the impressive structure of the library building.

All Play Baseball Volunteering Saturday, June 23: This is one of the two dates our club is listed as providing volunteers. I will send out a sign-up contact when I receive it. It is suggested to wear our Kiwanis shirts.

Happy Bucks: Sheriff Ralph Peppard collected many happy bucks.

July 4: No Meeting.

July 11 (or 25): Dennis Cronin will present a representative from the Henry Doorly Zoo about attractions and volunteer opportunities.

July 18: Omaha Storm Chasers Baseball about their 50 years’ affiliation with the KC Royals.

August 1: Andrew Kroeger, KMTV Sports about NE Football.

Remainder of August: Members please make suggestions to Valerie Stoj.

Today’s Speakers: Member Vern Waldren, who is also the volunteer chair of the “Friends of Extension Foundation”, which has taken over the management of the Douglas County Fair July 13, 14 and 15, introduced paid summer interns Makayla Burg and Elene Kauffman. They shared about their upbringing around 4H  and detailed plans for this year’s County Fair. Exhibits, activities and a parade will be at the Village Point Shopping Center 168th and W. Dodge and Lifestock exhibits will be at “Chance Ridge” off Skyline Drive North of W. Dodge Road South of Elkhorn.
