Olive Garden Restaurant, 75th and Dodge, Wednesday, January 10, 2018.

President Cindy Cone presided, John Seigel started the Pledge, Ralph Peppard...

started “God bless America” and Barbara St.John gave the invocation.

Board Meeting: Cindy Cone reported that the meeting lasted only 45 minutes. She sent out a report separately. New volunteers are requested for officers and board members, as Dennis Cronin, Ralph Peppard and Barbara St.John will get off the board on September 30, 2018,  New rods were made for our banners, so they will hang more appropriately.

Interclub: Scheduled for Friday, January 19, noon with “Greater Omaha” at Valentinos, 102nd and Maple near the 680 exit.

Drawing and happy Bucks: Sheriff Ralph Peppard again had the lucky number after last week’s big win. He also collected many happy bucks.

Today’s Speaker: Vern Waldren introduced longest serving County Commissioner Clair Duda at his 25th  or so annual visit to our club. Clair spoke about the need to increase the commissioners’ compensation for the amount of work and responsibility in the most populated Nebraska County. He also spoke about the need and options for an expansion of the court house including the need to possibly increase the mill levy going to the county by 2 cents per $100 valuation. He also spoke about property assessments by the Douglas County Assessor’ Office. We may hear from Clair Duda for the next 25 years as long as he keeps getting re-elected.
