Club Meetings

Omaha Westside Kiwanis News August 9, 2017

Papillion Manor, 610 South Polk Street, Papillion, NE 68046.

By invitation of our longtime member, NE/IA Trustee and Club Treasurer Bill Morrison members... joined for lunch in the chapel / community room of this retirement community.

Dave Huelsmann gave the invocation. We did not disturb the residents with singing a patriotic song. Sad smile

Board Meeting: President Dennis Cronin reported:  Treasurers’ reports for June and July and an “abbreviated” secretary’s report were presented and accepted.
Sufficient funds are available to make the scheduled contributions to non-profit organizations in August.
Three new members still need to be installed in the near future.
We need programs for September through December.

NE/IA District Convention: Bruce Moulton, Glen Fineman and Jozef Schmidtke attended (which was an interclub) and reported that it was one of the best district conventions they ever attended with about 26 break-out sessions. The positions of Secretary and Treasurer in District 20 were separated, as requested by current Secretary/Treasurer Barb O’Donnell.

All Play Baseball: Fall Season begins August 12. Kiwanians are scheduled to volunteer on Saturday, June 26 – or any Saturday.

Ronald McDonald meal: Barbara St.John reported that the next meal will be served also on June 26.

Happy Bucks: Sheriff Ralph Peppard collected happy bucks from nearly all members, who were happy to see Bill Morrison in good condition.

Summer Outing: This Sunday, August 13, 4 pm with a pot luck meal about 6 pm at John and Debbie Seigels’ home and pool. Separate invitation to be e-mailed shortly.

Upcoming Programs:

August 16: Dave Clark, Program Coordinator for KG Christian Radio.

August 23: Rusty Lord, Chief Meteorologist WOWT

August 30: Rae Ann Knoell, Omaha Home for Boys.

Today’s Program: Linnea Detrick, general administrator of Papillion Manor, gave a presentation about the mission statement and the benefits of the facilities to members needing extended and short time care, such as rehabilitation. Some of our older members paid very good attention. It appears that Bill Morrison is very happy with the services he is receiving.  Smile
