Omaha Westside Kiwanis News June 21, 2017

Olive Garden Restaurant, 75th and Dodge, Wednesday, June 21, 2017.

President Dennis Cronin lead the meeting, Rod Jones lead “God bless America” and... Glen Fineman gave the invocation.

Visitors: We welcomed Linda Jones, wife of Rod, as a potential new member, and an interclub from Bellevue Offutt, including Cliff Stultz, Lupe Meyr, Roger Gibbon an Gary Sheet. (spelling?)

Flags July 4. Dennis Cronin is still looking for a few good patriots to place and remove flags in the Loveland area at 7 am and 6 pm.

Camp OK: Rod Jones introduced the two girls from Westgate Elementary School who had participated in the Camp OK in Iowa recently. Ali and Julia enthusiastically shared about their experiences.

Drawing: Joe Schmidtke left $23.50 on the table by removing the 4 of Diamonds.

Happy Bucks, Fines: Ralph Peppard helped our welfare fund by collecting a number of Happy Bucks and fines.

Upcoming Programs:
July 5: “A tense USA”. About our troops (if I understood this correctly).
July 12: Malerie Maddox, co-anchor of WOWT/NBC, channel 6.
July 26: Mike Kelley from the Omaha World-Herald.
Open: July 19, August 23 and 30.

Today’s Speaker: Beth Grainer from the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center spoke about the impact this large regional hospital has on the Omaha community and region and about the current expansion plans, evidence of which can be seen now at the former location of Davidson’s Furniture, the company of our past club member, Art Davidson.
