Club Meetings

Omaha Westside Kiwanis News March 30, 2017

Olive Garden Restaurant, 75th and Dodge, Thursday, March 30, 2017.

Rod Jones lead the meeting and the patriotic song and The Reverend Cindy... Cohn gave the invocation.

Guest: Cherie Waldren joined her husband Vern at the treasurer’s table.

Instead of Pancake donations: Members can still donate a minimum of $60 to the club’s welfare fund as a replacement of the former pancake feed ticket purchases and participate in the drawing of $100 to one of the donors or participants of the Sarpy County Tax Certificate Auction.

Interclub: Bruce Moulton, Rod Jones and John Seigel are planning an interclub with the Bellevue AM Club on Tuesday, April 4, at 7 AM at the Firemen’s House in Bellevue. Members can still join us if you do wake up early that day. This completes the visits to other Kiwanis Clubs in District 20 for the 2016/2017 year.

After the meal Rod Jones introduced the three winners of the Westside 6th grade Speech Contest who attended with their parents, some family members and one teacher.

The presenters of excellent and inspiring speeches were:

Third Place: Eddy Pike, Sunset Elementary School

Second Place: JT Evans of Oakdale Elementary School

First Place (and second first-place recipient from that same family!): Izzy Dodge, Loveland Elementary School.
