President Dennis Cronin presided, Ralph Peppard started “God bless America” and Joe Schmidtke... gave the invocation.
Guest: We welcomed Lt. Gov. District 19, Joanne Feller, of the North Omaha Kiwanis Club. She was interested in today’s speaker.
Scholarships: Jack Jackson reported that he, Dennis Cronin, Bob Lodes and Bruce Moulton reviewed the applications and chose one student each from Burke, Westside and Prep to receive a $1,000 scholarship each on April 12.
Ronald McDonald Meal April 1. Barbara St. John has enough volunteers signed up to prepare and serve a nutritious meal. A recognition event for volunteers is scheduled at the Magnolia. Info was given to Barbara St. John.
Drawing: Dave Huelsmann drew the 2 of Spades and left $96.50 for someone else to win.
Golf Outing June 2: Teri Layton updated us by e-mail on the teams, hole sponsors and donations.
All Play cleanup April 22: At the Ralston Area Ballpark from about 10 am to 2 pm. Lunch included. Please let Joe Schmidtke know if you can assist.
Happy Bucks: Sheriff Ralph Peppard collected many happy bucks from this happy group. including one each from our visitor and our speaker.
Today’s Speaker: Gregg Youell, Chief Executive of the Metropolitan Area Planning Agency – MAPA – gave a slide presentation about the organization coordinating long range traffic and development planning with communities in the 5 county area of Pottawattamie, Mills, Washington, Douglas, Sarpy and soon as # 6 Cass County.
Next Week’s Program: Rod Jones will present the 3 winners of the Westside Elementary School 5th grade speech contest, who will present their winning speeches. This is always a very uplifting event. (I will never understand the spelling: a speaker speaks while giving a speech).
