For three years in a row (2002-2005) and again in 2007-2008, Kiwanis Club of Omaha Westside has won the Outstanding Club Website award from the Nebraska-Iowa District

Nebraska - Iowa District Outstanding club website contest:

Nominations for the Outstanding Club Website are due to the District Webmaster by November 15 of each year.  The award is made at the subsequent Midyear Conference.  The judges are the district webmaster, the district bulletin editor and the district public relations chairperson.

Club websites are judged on the following criteria:

  • Impression on first entry.  Is the domain name appropriate and meaningful?  Does the viewer see something meaningful within 10 seconds?
  • Homepage is exciting, interesting and attention-grabbing.  Is there useful information on the homepage?  Does the homepage look good, clean and uncluttered?  Is there important information "above the fold"?
  • Homepage contains key facts.  Is Kiwanis and the club name prominently displayed?  Does it contain meeting information?  Does it contain contact information?  Are there links to Kiwanis International and NE-IA websites?
  • Links are clear and meaningful.  Are links appropriate and consistent?
  • Overall site structure.  Is it clear what the structure of the site is?  Is there a list of contents or a site-map?  Is there a search feature on the site?  Do all pages obey the same rules?  Do all web pages show the date updated?
  • Website achieves its purpose.  Is it clear what the purpose of the website is?  Are appropriate images and colors used?
