The Swainsboro Kiwanis Club met Saturday morning at 9 a.m.,
January 28, 2012 at L.H. Weiss's farm for their annual pruning of
L.H. Weiss's grape vines. Saturday morning's pruning was phase one
of a three phase project for the senior citizens of our local
nursing homes.
Each year, Kiwanian L.H. Weiss donates his grapes to the
Swainsboro Kiwanis Club in order for the Kiwanis members to be able
to pick and deliver many pounds of grapes to senior citizens that
normally would not be able to pick grapes for themselves. Chairman
Weiss has 10 to 12 grapevines approximately 60 feet long each. The
Kiwanians spent about 3 to 4 hours pruning the grapevines
Saturday. They will come back to pick the grapes when they are ripe
and then deliver them to the local nursing homes.
The Grapevine Project has been a project of the Swainsboro
Kiwanis Club for many years and the Kiwanis Club appreciates the
generosity of Kiwanian L.H. Weiss.
