Fourteen Barrett Middle School students have been selected as winners of the sixth annual Carmichael Water Wise Art Contest.
These students were among more than 200 others who submitted artwork for the competition, which promotes the arts, encourages creative expression and the responsible use of water. The art contest was created with the support of Carmichael Water
District and the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael. The goal of the contest is to engage the students of Barrett Middle School in educating their community about the importance of using water wisely in Carmichael and California as a whole.
The students' artwork has since been turned into a calendar that the school will sell to benefit their art program. The resulting calendar conveys a youthful view of the value of safeguarding this great natural resource. On Monday, an awards ceremony was held at the Carmichael Water District offices to celebrate the contest winners and their creativity. Representatives from the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael, Barrett Middle School and Carmichael Water District presented the winning students with gift certificates and poster-sized copies of their artwork.Contest Winners:Laura Ionescu – Grand Prize WinnerKali SlavichMary GomesCamara McMillanEliana KimFinley UrsinoBreanna LockeCourtney WarnerAubryn KraftMaison BraySarah FreeseMaverick GoldenEmily ShtefanitsaDennis Kindruk
