Lion Carol Ann Van Holt asked me to join several years before I could commit due to City Council meetings on Monday nights. When those meetings were moved to Tuesdays, she invited me to join again.At that point in my life, I felt I would be better able to volunteer my time, personal income and energy to a great service organization. In doing so, I became a dedicated Lion.Harper stated: "Webster's dictionary defines a volunteer as one who enters into or offers their service of their own will. For an individual to want to become a volunteer, the desire to give back without compensation must already be realized."Giving individuals make a happy and harmonious organization and that, in turn, leads to a better community and a healthier society. The essence of a community reflects the individuals in it.
