The Swainsboro Kiwanis Club held its weekly meeting Tuesday,
Jan. 24, 2012 at Catered Creations at 7 p.m. Kiwanian Roger
Peebles was in charge of the program this week and brought the
President of the Emanuel County Historical Preservation Society,
George Elder, to speak.
Elder talked for a few minutes about our Bicentennial and the
different activities that are being planned by the citizens of
Emanuel County. Just last week, George met with the Emanuel County
Board of Commissioners to display the new official logo to be used
by everyone in the county beginning this month. He stated that
Emanuel County is moving ahead with the Bicentennial Signs located
at each county line road entering Emanuel County. Also, he stated
that the Historical Society is developing banners, flags and signs
to get the word out to our citizens. For the rest of the program,
Elder entertained the club with trivia concerning American
History.
