Christina Munoz, co-anchor of KATV Channel 7 News at 6 p.m. and Nightside at 10 p.m., will be the guest speaker of the Stuttgart Kiwanis Club at noon Thursday at the Stuttgart Country Club. We are happy to have Christina Munoz as a guest of the Stuttgart Kiwanis Club,” Darrell Stayton, president of the Stuttgart Kiwanis Club, said. “She brings excellent credentials with her and we are looking forward to having her as our guest.” Munoz, a native of South Dakota, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from the University of Minnesota School of Journalism with a minor in Spanish. Before joining the staff at KATV in April 2003, Munoz was a reporter and fill-in anchor at KDLH Channel 3 News in Duluth, Minn. Prior to that, she worked behind the scenes at WCCO in Minneapolis, Minn., and spent four years as an on-air radio announcer for 1450 KYNT in her hometown of Yankton, N.D. Since moving to Arkansas, she has been actively involved in various community organizations. Munoz is a member of the Arkansas Climbers Coalition, an honorary board member of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and also served two years as President of Ballet Arkansas and continues to be an advisory board member. She has received various awards including an Emmy and Northwest Broadcast News Association (NBNA), Eric Severeid and AP News awards. Munoz co-authored a book called “Making Memories: A Celebration of the Life of Anne Pressly” with KATV news director Randy Dixon in November of 2009. All proceeds benefit the Anne Pressly Scholarship Foundation. Munoz and her husband, Dave, were married in the summer of 2001 with two wedding ceremonies — one in South Dakota and one in Chile for her mother’s family. They are the proud parents of Sydney Raquel, who was born Oct. 18, 2008. When not spending time with her family, Munoz enjoys dancing, attending Bible study, playing guitar, rock climbing, spending time with their dog, Lucy, and cheering on the Twins, the Vikings and the Razorbacks.
