Membership
Membership in Kiwanis is open to men and women who have a desire and willingness to serve their communities. Kiwanians are engaged in education, government, banking, marketing, agriculture, international trade, non-profit organizations, and many other fields. They are corporate officers, managers, small-business owners, and self-employed professionals. They are young individuals embarking on careers, successful executives, and active retirees. Membership provides the opportunities to build friendships and camaraderie with others in our community. Studies show that helping others not only provides assistance to those in need, but also enhances the emotional health of the helper. Learning to help others is a three-step process. The first step is overcoming the fear of being generous. When we learn to give of ourselves, we realize the abundance we have in our lives. The second step is identifying your talents, abilities and interests and applying those to a cause you can be passionate about. The third step is contacting an organization such as Kiwanis Club of Omaha Westside where you can put your talents to work. Any good deed can have great significance in the life of the giver and the recipient. -- More --
